Osu Castle Now Used For Weddings, Parties, Etc - MP

It used to be revered place; it had its own glory and once served as the seat of government until 2013.

The Osu Christiansborg Castle which many believed to be a security installation is now being rented out for other activities, according to George Mireku Duker, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Tarkwa Nsuaem.

The MP was speaking to an investigative piece put together by Manesseh Azure of Multimedia.

The video captures a group known as De-Eye using the Osu Castle as a training place for men and women with the hope of recruiting them into the nation’s security.

Some members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) have condemned government for giving out a security zone to a private firm affiliated with the NPP.

But George Duker says the Osu Castle is no longer a ‘security installation’. According to him, the facility is now under the Ghana Museums and Monuments Board (GMMB).

Osu Castle is not a security installation; you can organize weddings, hold cocktail receptions, and parties there; people rent the place for various social events or functions,” he indicated during a panel discussion on Friday's edition of Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo'.
