Member of Parliament for the Nsawam Adoagyiri constituency and Chairman for the Foreign Affairs Committee of Parliament, Hon. Frank Annor Dompreh says he will step down as an MP, if North Tongu MP, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa is able to provide evidence that government has made payment for the Oslo property.

He says he cannot fathom why the Ranking Member on the Foreign Affairs committee wants to be deceiving the public.

Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' programme, he disclosed Okudzeto Ablakwa is becoming a nuisance to Parliament.

"As an honorable member, you should be careful and mindful of what you say. He is gradually becoming a disgrace to Parliament and that he should be careful of what he is going about saying.

“The office of a Member of Parliament is not cheap, but our brother day in day out is cheapening this office. It’s a source of worry to some of us,” Mr. Annor-Dompreh stated.

The NPP MP was bemused why Hon Ablakwa, who is a Ranking Member of the committee could impugn criminality and corruption on the part of the Foreign Minister who he said has been cooperative and transparent on the subject matter.

“If the Minister had an intent for defrauding the state, she wouldn’t have displayed all these figures to us. The so called 16.5 million dollars is the offeree’s offer being put on the table. It has not been accepted so it cannot become a binding agreement,” he explained.

In his view, Ablakwa is beginning to show bad faith in his interaction with the committee, adding “We don't know what he is seeking to achieve” with what he termed "falsehood being peddled by the MP".

Hon Ablakwa who is the MP for North Tongu on Monday revealed government was buying a six-bedroom apartment for a chancery in Oslo, Norway, at the cost of 12 million dollars, an amount he suggested was inflated.

He presented some documents to the Speaker of Parliament to ground his claim but the Speaker shot down the tendering of the documents on the basis they were inadmissible.

Foreign Affairs Minister Shirley Ayorkor Botchway strongly rejected the claim by the MP and insisted that the government only expressed interest and “has not signed any agreement to purchase the said properties”.
