Dominic Eduah; The Making Of A Modern Young Political Strategist And Executor

Many a political follower in our dear country, Ghana, was surprised at the outcome of the 2016 general election in the most parts of the country. The results that came in from the Western, Central, Volta and Brong Ahafo regions were mind boggling to many political watchers. It was expected that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will win in those regions but none expected the massive beating reminiscent of the Mohammed Ali’s thrashing of George Foreman in the “Rumble in the Jungle” of 1974 in the Congo.

In a masterful display, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) was at the receiving end of one of the most humiliating political defeats in our recent electoral history. Many have wondered how this was recorded in what have become known as swing regions in Ghana’s political landscape.

The youth wing of the NPP was the fulcrum around which the unprecedented victory was built and recorded. Led by Sammy Awuku and his two oracular deputies, the NPP youth wing in a stroke of mobilization and organizational genius, galvanized the teeming youth of the country, both partisan and mere sympathizers to ensure that the tyranny of incompetence that the Ghanaian had been subjected to since January 2013 was brought to an excruciating end for the NDC but a soothing relief for the Ghanaian.

In the run up to the election, one of the national deputy youth organizers of the NPP, Dominic Eduah, was given responsibility over three major swing regions namely, Western, Central and Brong Ahafo regions. He was to lead the strategy and execution of same to ensure that the party won convincingly in these regions.

His leadership in terms of his strategy, mobilization and execution produced in part the mind boggling results that were recorded in these three most important regions.

It would later emerge that he was also assigned to some parts of the greater Accra region on special assignments coupled with his leadership of the students committee which ensured that as far as the various campuses were concerned, the NPP again, proved authoritatively victorious.
In-spite-of these achievements, many do not seem to know much about this growing erudite political personality in our body politics.

This could partly be due to his political philosophy of allowing your works to speak for you just as his work has caught our attention today. When asked in a recent interview as to why he wasn’t projecting himself into the media while deputizing Sammy Awuku, he responded by saying that he doesn’t believe in overshadowing the boss but rather playing his part to the best of his ability because that is what brings recognition and promotion.

Now, a snap shot of his political life which has brought him to this point where he is seeking to lead the youth wing of the biggest political party in our republic.

Dominic Kwesi Eduah was born to Mr. and Mrs. Eduah in a small village of hope and ambitions. His father, with all the excitement he could muster decided that I had to be groomed into a man of action. He was trained him on the values of diligence and hard work. The fundamental place of strategy i.e. Thinking, Planning and Execution was ingrained in him at a very young age by his parents.

Dominic quickly became active in his community through which he became a member of the NPP and with these values, work hard for the fortunes of the NPP.
He started his political engagement from the polling station level as an activist, then became Electoral Area coordinator. His hard work was noticed by the constituency he was appointed Youth Wing Secretary at Kwesimintim as well as Elections Strategist in the Takoradi Constituency. Such was his skill that he was called upon to work with two constituencies. His impeccable work ethic further propelled him to become a member of the Regional Communication and Campaign teams of the Western Region towards election 2012.
In the students’ front, Dominic started off as Vice President of the Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON), then later, it’s President at the Takoradi Polytechnic where he had his tertiary education. After his graduation, he was appointed the Regional TESCON Coordinator to bring his mastery to bare in building the base of the party as far as the educational front is concerned.

With the above, it was therefore not a surprise when he was appointed to the office of Deputy National Youth Organizer and made Chairman of the Students’ Committee of the Youth Wing subsequently. In the past four years, he has served diligently in all these capacities in addition to being a member of National Executive Committee and the National Council of the NPP.

Dominic is a leading contender for the National Youth Organizer position as he seeks to take over from Sammy Awuku. He says he has all the experience to build on and expand the fortunes of the youth wing of the NPP and the party at large through building a grassroots machinery which emphasizes hard work through direct contact and mobilization of voters.

The elections are earmarked to take place in Koforidua, the capital of the eastern region from 6th to 8th of July.
On this day, 21st May, the date of his birth, we celebrate him and wish him the very best.
