Minority Ask President Mills To Break His Silence

The minority caucus in parliament has called on President John Evans Atta Mills to break his silence on the alleged attempt by some persons to bribe him for some consideration. This is contained in a statement signed by Hon. Fredrick Opare-Ansah the minority Chief whip and MP for Suhum. The Minority Caucus said President Mills owes Ghanaians information on the identities of those who allegedly attempted to bribe him and the steps he has or is taking to have the alleged persons arrested for prosecution. The Minority said if Mr. Kwame Pianims assertion is true then President Mills and Mr Kwame Pianim will be culpable since they have failed to report the case to the police. The Minority described the claims of incorruptibility inferred from the matter as rather funny and one that raises many fundamental questions. The Minority also wondered whether it would not be very surprising for President Mills to accept a bribe in the presence of a person like Mr. Kwame Pianim known to be a member of the NPP. The Minority therefore asked whether it will be wrong for someone to describe the whole episode involving an attempt to bribe the president in the presence of a frontline opponent as a set up.
