Former Mayor Samuel Sarpong Appeals To KMA To Elect A PM

Former Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly  and Former Regional Minister  Samuel Sarpong has appealed to the assembly members of the KMA to bury their political and parochial interests and elect a Presiding Member.

He said their failure to elect a Presiding Member is impeding development of the metropolis.

Mr. Sarpong, who is also a former Ashanti Regional Minister, said the assembly members stand to lose a lot in terms of development in their electoral areas.

He advised that they should therefore put their acts to together and elect a Presiding Member who will lead them in the development of their areas.

He said the violence that has characterized the election of a Presiding Member in recent times is giving the assembly a bad image in the country.

Mr. Sarpong, who is also the NDC’s parliamentary candidate for Nhyiaeso in Kumasi, said he is highly optimistic of winning the seat to succeed NPP’s Dr Richard Anane, a former Minister of Health and Transport during Ex-president Kufour’s tenure.

He said the Nhyaieso constituency is made up of a lot of elites most of whom support him because he stands tall among all the other parliamentary candidates.

He also stated that looking at the number of massive infrastructure development that the NDC under President Mahama has done for the region, there is  the need to give him a second chance to continue with his good works come December 7th .
