Former PRO Has No Credibility...He's A Liar! - Presby Church

An attempt by a former Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) to discredit claims by a former moderator of the church that certain politicians tried to bribe him with cash and a house has ceased to fly.

The PCG says it has utmost trust in its out-gone Moderator; someone they describe as "incorruptible.”

Shortly after the immediate past Moderator of the PCG, Prof. Emmanuel Martey, had revealed that he was promised a plush house at Trassaco, a brand new four-wheel car and $100,000 in cash by certain politicians who approached him, Dr. Emmanuel Osei Acheampong, the former PRO of the church also came out to tell a different story that the former moderator indeed took the bribe.

Right Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Martey's revelation became the talk of town when he said that: “Politicians have tried all means to muzzle me.

They come with bribes, envelopes as fat as $100, 000. Politicians came to my house with fat envelopes and also with the promises that if you keep quiet, we would give you a house at Trassaco with swimming pool”.

The Man of God who is a known critic of the governing Mahama-led administration, added that he wouldn’t be cowed by any politician.

They have tried all means to muzzle me, they couldn’t and I tell you they can’t. I will speak today and tomorrow. I pay high taxes that cause my stomach to turn”, he said.

But in July 28, 2013, at around 8:15pm, Dr. Emmanuel Osei Acheampong claims he was invited by Emmanuel Martey to the office of one of the leading opposition parties not the ruling government to take bribe.

When I got there he had received the 100,000 dollars and a V8 he is claiming to have rejected. And he gave me 50,000 dollars, I am speaking on authority that he received the money," he alleged.

Dr. Emmanuel Osei Acheampong’s allegation is struggling to pass the litmus test as the current PRO for the PCG, Rev George Larbi, has challenged his assertions.

In an interview on Peacefm’s News @ 6pm, Rev George Larbi, disclosed that in June 2013, the PCG, under the leadership of Prof. Emmanuel Martey decided to sever ties with Rev George Larbi due to the web of corrupt practices that had entangled him.

Considering the month in which the church fired Osei Acheampong and the latter's claims, the church asserts the former is nothing but a liar.

Rev George Larbi insists that “if he (Osei Acheampong) comes on radio to say in July 2013, Prof called him to go to a politician’s house for a bribe, then I want to tell all Ghanaians that he is a lair.

He (Osei Acheampong) was sacked for fraud. You can check on Google and see the statement and details that led to us taking his job from him”.

He ended by stating that “I have worked with Prof for long and I can put my hands in fire if someone dares me that he is corrupt. Osei Acheampong knows this. We must throw this allegation away, he has no credibility.”
