Shame And Exposed ... NPP Behind Provocative Tamale Demo

A plot by the New Patriotic Party, to use one of the volatile regions in Ghana, Tamale to spark a violent clash failed on Monday. The party had hurriedly organized a protest dubbed ‘We Are Tired” to coincide with the campaign tour of President John Mahama, clearly as a desperate measure to divert attention.

The NPP Youth wing led by Sammy Awuku and Anthony Karbo who led the demonstration carried placards with provocative messages insulting the President and his government ahead of his visit,

The plan according to intelligence gathered from some of the local organizers was to provoke NDC sympathizers who may turn out to wait for the arrival of the President.

Some of the placards read, “INCOMPETENT MAHAMA, WHERE IS THE GYEEDA MONEY, REDUCE ELECTRICITY TARIFFS and WE NEED CHANGE”, …...obviously the mantra of the NPP and its cohorts over the past few months who have created the demonstration involved minority parties.

But claims that the APC, PPP, CPP and PNC are involved has been disputed.

General Secretary of the APC, Razak Kojo Opoku has said in separate interviews on Accra based Radio Gold and Class FM that his party is not involved and has not met any group to plan the protests.

The Peoples National Convention has also expressed shock at news going round that it took part in the demonstration. National Chairman of the PNC, Bernard Mornah also claims his party was not officially contacted and dissociated themselves from what took part in Tamale on Monday.

Credible information also indicates the National Executive of the Convention Peoples Party, CPP is also preparing to issue a statement.

The NPP diabolical agenda by the NPP has raised the political temperature in the region amidst fears of pockets of violent attacks ahead of the President’s visit.

Police and Military patrols have been beefed up in the Tamale metropolis.
