NPP Sponsored Agenda To Water Down Massive Infrastructure Projects Exposed

A diabolical agenda to discredit the massive infrastructure projects by government has been exposed. The plan, according to an Intel intercepted by the Citizens Mail newspaper, is to use friendly media platforms to play out scenarios to suggest that people in some parts of the country where specific development projects have been cited cannot feel the impact.

This according to a mole within the group, is to highlight statements and promises by Nana Akufo Addo and stage demonstrations against government for neglecting some communities. Our deep throat source has revealed the sectors targeted are the roads, health and fisheries sector as well as labour unions who are to threaten government with strikes.

Media friends are also expected to push discussions on job creation and project Nana Akufo Addo’s promises. These according to him should always dominate public discourse anytime the President is on his campaign tour to divert attention.

It has also been disclosed that those involved have been asked to give low publicity to John Mahama’s campaign and if possible blow out of proportion any negative comments.

This was evident during President Mahama’s Accounting to the People Tour. This week, one of the strategies is being rolled out and the focus is on the roads sector. It was triggered by NPP flagbearer, Nana Akufo Addo who is promising to split the Western Region into two to give attention to the neglected northern part. He made reference to bad roads and massive deprivation claiming nothing is happening.

On Wednesday, some residents in the Ho Municipality organized a demonstration over bad roads amidst threats to vote against the government in the December 7 elections.. This comes at a time over 25kilometers of roads in the Volta regional capital are undergoing asphalt overlay.  The aggrieved residents claim several petitions to the Municipal Assembly have been neglected.

At Madina near Accra, someone claiming to be an Assemblyman of the area is also planning a similar demonstration. The gentleman is calling media with phone number 0245-864-223 to come and cover bad roads at Madina. This is in spite of completed major roads and ongoing town roads.

The NPP and its surrogates are trying to create an impression the President has promised to fix all roads in Ghana. On Tuesday, Deputy Communications Minister, Felix Kwakye Ofosu silenced an aide to Nana Akufo Addo, Mustapha Hamid when he tried to project the agenda on some radio stations.

Mustapha Hamid was commenting on President Mahama’s shot at Nana Akufo Addo that he must have been sleeping during his campaign tour of the region that’s why he did not see completed roads or ongoing projects.

The Deputy Communications Minister who joined the programme on Accra-based Class FM by phone challenged the NPP to confirm or deny if specific roads on which they travelled during their tour do not exist.

He said the evidence on massive projects in the roads sector have been captured in the green book. The NPP is simply mesmerized and has no effective campaign message and will resort to deceit.

“Agona Junction to Elubo road,  the 94km Tarkwa-Bogoso Ayamfuri, Ayamfuri-Asawinso, Sefwi-Bekwai-Eshiem, Sewfi-Wiawso-Akontombra, Juaboso-Bodi, Prestea-Samreboi, Edwenase-Atobiase and many more in the hinterland. These have either been completed or ongoing” Mr Ofosu Kwakye noted.

He also made reference to some specific town roads benefitting from the asphalt overlays. “ In Sekondi-Takoradi, the Kansaweredo bypass is glaring. Everyone can see it. 20kilometers of asphalt has also been done in the Sekondi-Takoradi township. There are other road projects like the Edwenase-Atobease, Juabeso-Dadieso and many rural roads that are being constructed and Nana Akufo Addo cannot pretend not to have seen these roads” the Minister emphasized.

He added that there is one thing criticizing the government, but it’s also necessary to acknowledge what government has done rather than claiming nothing at all has been done.

Overwhelmed by the evidence, adduced, Nana Akufo Addo’s aide, Mr Hamid chickened out. He told the host of the show, he is not interested in a debate and that there are parts of the region that need help.

The argument surfaced on Accra based CITI FM where the deputy Minister took on host of Eye Witness News, Richard SKY.

Richard SKY in a follow-up question in an attempt to equalize claims by the Deputy Minister that Nana Addo lied, said President John Mahama has also not honoured his promise, because people are still complaining about bad roads in the region.

Mr Sky asked….“But the President again was not exactly truthful when he claimed that he has fixed all the promises he has made to the people of the Western region by fixing all the roads. I mean that will be a palpable lie?

But Felix Kwakye Ofosu did not take his mischief lightly when he again tried to suggest that Mr Mahama did same about the Hohoe roads.

Under the Cocoa Roads Improvement Programme, several areas have been captured. The only palpable lie would have been told by you (Richard Sky) and CITI FM, if you say the President said he will fix all roads in the Western region. Prove where the President promised or said he has fixed all roads. The media must refrain from the sensationalism. The evidence exists with glaring evidence you cannot dispute. And CITI FM lied again about the Hohoe road when you misled the public then in an attempt to embarrass the President.”

“Exposing lies told by CITI FM is very important and relevant for public discussion. And I am surprised. You must refrain as a media house from speaking as though you are a mouthpiece of the opposition,” he bluntly told the host who immediately ended the programme to prevent further embarrassment.
