NPP Replies Nii Lanteys Jab At Nana Addos Height

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has responded to the Member of Parliament for Odododiodoo, Nii Lantey Vanderpuije’s recent comments claiming “the presidency is not about height”. The MP, who is also the Minister for Sports made the statement at the launch of the National Democratic Congress campaign launch in the Central Region. He said “being a president is not about height, or how short you are.

It is not about the eyeglasses you were. Being a president is about the love you have for the people and realizing what they need. It is about deciding to sacrifice yourself to make life better for all.” Even though Nii Lantey Vanderpuije did not mention any name in his address, many political watchers say he was referring to the NPP presidential candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. Responding to the comment, a Deputy Communications Director of the NPP, Anthony Karbo told Citi News, the desperation of the NDC is the reason for the attack on the person of their flagbearer. He said the NDC government has failed to fulfill all of its “I care for you” promises, reason why they “will resort to denigrating people for how they have been created by their maker”. “This election is about the NDC record in office. These are people who came under the tag of I care for you. Ghanaian doctors are asking whether over the last eight years this government has really shown whether they care for the doctors or not. Unemployed graduates will be wondering whether this government really cares for them, and the fact that the government is failing on all front”, he said.

He added the country’s problem “has nothing absolutely to do with whether the president is tall or short”. “The president is supposed to be tall or of averaged height, has he been able to resolve the dumsor problem? No. Has the president been able to contain Ghana’s ballooning public debts? No. Has he been able to grow agriculture? No. Has the president been able to resolve manufacturing? No. So once you have all this in the negative, then you will know that it is only a desperate government that will resort to denigrating people for how they have been created by their maker”.
