Bring It On Bagbin Dares NPP Over Ford Expedition Saga

Majority Leader and MP for Nadowli/Kaleo, Hon. Alban Sumana Bagbin, has dared the minority NPP caucus to move the motion for discussion over the Ford Expedition saga since his side “is ever ready at any given time to debate the issue”.

The minority had threatened to initiate impeachment proceedings against President John Dramani Mahama for allegedly accepting a Ford Expedition from a road contractor, Djibril Kanazoe, a gift many believed led to the award of road contract to the Burkinabe.

The alleged act, the minority contends, is misconduct on the part of the President and warrants impeachment.

But Bagbin contributing to the motion for the approval of the GHC 1.8billion supplementary budget estimates on the floor of the House Thursday dared the minority to bring the issue up for debate.

Minority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu who was provoked by Bagbin sought refuge in the Speaker to rule on the matter and admit the motion brought before him by his side over the Ford Expedition saga.

But the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Edward Doe Adjaho called for restraint since the matter was already on his table for redress.

President John Dramani Mahama has come under intense bashing from a cross-section of the public for accepting the car gift worth from the Burkinabe contractor.

Kanazoe has admitted giving President Mahama a Ford Expedition vehicle, for which the President called to thank him.

The gift, according to media reports, was prior to an attempt by the Burkinabe, to win a bid to execute the Dodo Pepeso-Nkwanta road construction project.

The same contractor was also contracted to build a wall, at a cost of over half a million dollars, for the Ghana Embassy in Ouagadougou.

President John Dramani has since maintained his innocence in the Ford Expedition saga.
