Be Careful Whenever NDC And EC Share Same Thought -John Boadu Warns Ghanaians

Acting General Secretary of the largest opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu has warned Ghanaians not to be quick in accepting any thought which both the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the Electoral Commission (EC) seem to agree on.

According to him, there are countless instances which the thought both the NDC and EC shared to be the truth has turned out to be wrong.

John Boadu’s advice is born out of the fact that the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the Electoral Commission (EC) are in agreement that a company should be employed to electronically transmit the election results from the polling stations to the national collation centre.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expressed shock about the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP’s) decision to kick against the electronic transmission of the 2016 election results.

According to the NDC, the whole idea of the e-transmission of results – known as Electronic Results Transmission System – (ERTS), was a proposal by the NPP which was exhaustively debated and accepted by the Electoral Reform Committee before approval by IPAC and finally accepted by the Electoral Commission.

But this agreement, according to the NPP’s National Organizer is not exactly the accepted decision made at the IPAC meeting; thus, the actual the decision is that the electronic transmission of the results should start from the 275 constituency collation centres and proceed to the national collation centre.

He insisted the agreed proposal which Asiedu Nketiah, the General Secretary of the NDC was part of has nothing to do with using the hand-held scanners to scan the results from the polling stations; thus, Asiedu Nketiah and EC are aware of this proposal.

Again, the Director of operations for the NPP averred that both the NDC and EC goofed when they went in one direction in understanding the orders of the Supreme Court as the apex court ordered the deletion of the NHIS registrants from the Voters’ registration.

He further mentioned that both NDC and EC denied the allegation of the NPP in 2012 that a company called STL was contracted to transmit the election results electronically at the blind side of all the political parties but later, the Interior Minister, Prosper Bani came out to confirm the allegation of the NPP.

“It is amazing how sometimes NDC twist issues. The relevant point is that, all the argument about the STL working for EC in 2012 election has turned out to be true despite the denial by the EC and NDC. When you see that the EC and NDC have teamed up in agreement, you have to be careful; if their agreement goes into one direction, you have to be careful,” he warned.
