Im Really Disappointed In Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang - Susan Adu Amankwah

Minister of Education, Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang is my role model but I’m really disappointed in her for signing a petition for presidential pardon for Montie trio.

This is according to second vice-chairperson of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP), Susan Adu Amankwah.

The Education Minister was part of Ministers who signed a petition initiated by a group calling itself the Research and Advocacy Platform (RAP) calling for presidential pardon for jailed Alistair Nelson, Godwin Ako Gunn and Salifu Maase, alias Mugabe after they were found guilty of contempt charges.

The petition is to persuade President Mahama to activate his prerogative of mercy powers under Article 72 of the 1992 Constitution.

Their call for clemency seems to have yielded results as one of the lawyers for the contemnors claim President Mahama may accede to their request.

But many including Susan Adu Amankwah are extremely shocked at the decision by the learned professor and former vice chancellor of the University of Cape Coast.

In her view, given Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang’s pedigree, she should known better before joining those calling for the convicts to be released

“I had high expectation of her [Naana]; she is my role model but for this action, I’m disappointed’ the CPP woman bemoaned.

Susan Adu Amankwah believes the Education Minister would have a better explanation for her actions to protect her hard won reputation.
