Kweku Baako says the four months sentence imposed on the Montie FM contemnors by the Supreme Court Judges is a harsh verdict.

According to him, the sentence is "too much for them. Yeah, it’s too much. I think it shouldn’t have happened that way" and believed the fine slapped on the trio was rather "quite punitive" enough.

Speaking on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo', the senior journalist noted that the contemnors rather deserved the fine of GHC 10,000 pronounced on them by the court.

"This is my personal view based on my conscience. I’ve read the judgement. When you read the judgement, you also have to be fair. The Judges took their time. The Justices, they took their time to craft it. And when you read the judgment and don’t have the kind of philosophical attitude I have, you’ll give them 100 percent.”

Mr. Baako has from the onset of the court hearing made a clear stance on the case pleading with the Judges not to opt for a custodial sentence.

He was particularly worried on 'Kokrokoo' that the Judges didn't temper justice with mercy and that the three individuals, Salifu Maase alias Mugabe, Alistair Nelson and Godwin Ako-Gunn had to be imprisoned.
