Low Turnout At Tse Addo Kwaku Voter Exhibition Centre

Turnout at the Electoral Commission’s (EC) Exhibition of the Voters Register at Tse Addo Kwaku polling station at Labadi in Accra is low.

Mr Eric Arthur Botwe, the Polling Agent, for the area told the Ghana News Agency that as at Tuesday, July 19, only 16 out of the 421 people on the list had checked their names.

He attributed the low turnout to the low publicity of the exercise, adding that much awareness was not created.

He however expressed optimism that more people would come to verify their names.

He said so far the exercise has been peaceful with everything running smoothly as planned with backups measures taken should any of the biometric machines becomes faulty.

Mr Botwe said the EC has arranged September to enable people, who have changed their location to transfer their votes to enable them exercise their franchise.

Mrs Petra Addo, a trader said: “So far the publicity made has been targeted towards the literate leaving out the illiterate.”

She suggested that information vans should go round to publicise the exercise in the communities.
