Montie FM Saga: Judges Must Take Their Destiny Into Their Own Hands Egbert Faibille

Legal practitioner Egbert Faibille Jnr has advised Supreme Court Judges to use their office to ‘protect’ themselves and forget about state security.

According to him, the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) failed to protect the interest of judges after it cleared some radio panelists of posing any real danger when they threatened them [Judges] with death.

Speaking on Multi TV’s Saturday news analysis show dubbed ‘Newsfile’, the legal brainy noted that two radio panelists including a host who endangered the judges must be used as a signal that they are capable of protecting and defending themselves.

The judges are on their own; they have to take their destiny into their own hands,” he said.

The apex court is likely to sit Monday July 18 to determine the fate of Montie FM’s three - Alistair Nelson, Godwin Ako Gunn and a host Salifu Maase also known as ‘Mugabe’.

They have been cited for tarnishing the court by their nerve-wracking commentary on judges after they had ruled on a controversial voters register.

Their remarks came after the judiciary marked the most deadly day in Ghana’s history when three High Court judges including a pregnant women was murdered 27 years ago.

But the BNI after arresting the infamous Montie three declared that despite their cruel comments, they are incapable of harming judges.

However, lawyer Egbert Faibille questioned that – “You get the BNI without having gone into the background of these persons…clearing them? We need to protect our courts...it is not contempt of judges it is contempt of court.
