Court Frees Sylvester Mensah's Accounts

An Accra high court has ordered the state to defreeze all the Bank accounts of the former Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Authority(NHIA), Sylvester Mensah.

The order follows the motion moved by the Financial and Intelligence Centre for an ex-parte application to the Fast Track High Court (Financial Division) to get the former NHIA Boss’ accounts frozen.

Sylvester’s accounts were frozen when the Bureau of National Investigations(BNI) was investigating him over speculations of financial malfeasance at the authority.

The four accounts are at Access bank, United Bank for Africa(UBA), Energy Bank and Ecobank.

Mr. Mensah was arrested and detained on New Year’s Day after armed BNI operatives besieged his residence at Tse Addo, near the Trade Fair in Accra, the previous night (December 31, 2015)

He was allegedly implicated in the scandal after some service providers who were being interrogated by the BNI fingered him during investigations.
