Ministers To Aqua Vitens: Sit Up

The 2 Deputy Ministers of Water Resources, Works and Housing, Dr. Hannah Bisiw and Alhaji Saani Iddi who is also the MP for Wulensi has paid an unannounced visit to the Kpong Headworks which treats water for distribution to the public. Mr. David Foli Asimah, production supervisor of the Kpong Head works branch chairman of the Public Utility Workers Union led the 2 deputy ministers and the press to inspect facilities at the headworks. It was observed that the water intake point of the headworks contains a lot of debris which need to be removed from the water to allow heavy inflow of water for treatment. Some of the water reservoirs were leaking whilst others had been out of use due to technical problems. Also, as a result of the place being weedy, some of the workers said the area is full of snakes. Dr. Hannah Bisiw charged Aqua Vitens Rand Limited which is in charge of management of water treatment and distribution on behalf of GWCL to sit up and improve its operation to ensure efficient water supply in the country. Alhaji Saani Iddi also expressed concern about the volume of water which goes waste at the Kponog headworks and urged AVRL to take steps to reverse the situation.
