STATEMENT: "I Am A Free man"- Wontumi Declares After Visiting Police

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party has personally reported himself to the Ashanti Regional Police Command hours after news emerged that they have declared him a wanted man.

The MP for Manhyia North, Hon Collins Owusu Amankwaa and the NPP’s Constituency Secretary for the area, Felix Ibrahim complained to the police of being assaulted by Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako when they were observing the Limited Voter Registration exercise at a registration center named Nana Fodjour House in Krofrom in Kumasi.

The Police followed the issue up by extending an invitation to Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako popularly known as Chairman ‘Wontumi’.

But ‘Wontumi’ in a statement copied to Peacefmonline.com indicated that he had no idea the police were after him to assist them in an investigation.

As a law abiding citizen, he noted that “I reported myself to the Regional Police command at Kumasi exactly 10:42am today to write my statement. Though I am still at the station, there is no cause for alarm now.

Below is a copy of his statement

I AM A FREEMAN - Chairman Wontumi

I want to put on records that the Ghana police service did not arrest or have not arrest me.

The only time I heard, the police was looking for me was when UTV called to interview me. I reported myself to the Regional Police command at Kumasi exactly 10:42am today to write my statement. Though I am still at the station, there is no cause for alarm now.

I went there on my own free will without any intimidation or fear. Rumours that I was on the run is just fictitious, factless and impotent. I was on my daily duty of gaining political power for the NPP which the limited registration is a critical part of.

As a matter of fact, NPP is much resolute and we are organized for power unlike evil wishers wish for the party.

Am much grateful for the Ashanti Regional NPP MPs caucus for their support and urge them not to attach importance to rumours being peddled. It's personal and will be resolved without any dent on the party's fortunes.

Long live NPP

Long live Ghana
