Voters Registration Smooth And Peaceful In Asante-Akim South

The limited voters’ registration exercise in the Asante-Akim South District has generally been smooth and peaceful with no reported incident of confusion in any part of the area.

Except for isolated technical glitches with the registration equipment, which were quickly fixed by technicians of the Electoral Commission (EC), all had gone well.

Mrs. Alberta Mensah-Bonsu, the District Electoral Officer, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that she was impressed by the political maturity and responsible conduct of the people.

She said she was confident that this would be sustained to make the exercise a huge success.

Meanwhile, turn out at the various registration centres continue to be low with the registration officials having little work to do.

A visit to the Juaso Ahenbronum Centre by the GNA on Monday showed that only seven voters had registered as of 1300 hours, that day.

The situation was not any different at Yawkwei, where just five qualified voters had gone through the registration.

Ms. Sandra Afreh, the Registration Officer, said she was hopeful that things would pick up.
