Ill Report Myself To The Police 'Wanted' Chairman Wontumi

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Bernard Antwi Boasiako says he will personally report himself to the police after he was declared wanted on Monday.

According to the NPP chairman popularly known in politics as ‘Chairman Wontumi’, he will visit the police station Tuesday morning to explain issues to the police.

Report says the embattled NPP regional chairman in a heated argument slapped the Member of Parliament for Manhyia North, Collins Owusu Amankwa.

The incident happened on Sunday evening at a registration centre called Nana Fodjour House in Krofrom, Kumasi.

Chairman Wontumi has however denied ever involving himself in such thuggery – he rather accused President John Dramani Mahama of orchestrating his arrest to demean his efforts to ensuring a massive win for the NPP in the region in the upcoming election.

“I know President Mahama is behind this. It is unfortunate people are accusing me wrongly,” he said in an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show 'Ghana Montie'

The Ashanti Regional Command of the Ghana Police Service has declared the regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, aka, Chairman Wontumi, a wanted man.

An arrest warrant for Wontumi has subsequently been issued by the Police following the regional chairman’s refusal to honour an invitation extended to him by the men and women in black uniform to assist in investigations after a complaint was lodged against him by the MP for Manhyia North and the NPP Constituency Secretary for the area, Collins Owusu Amankwaa and Felix Ibrahim.

The duo had complained of being assaulted by Chairman Wontumi on Sunday, May 1, 2016 when they were observing the Limited Voter Registration exercise at a registration center named Nana Fodjour House in Krofrom in Kumasi.
