Any EC Boss Would Always Be Under Pressure EC Boss

Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) Mrs Charlotte Osei has emphatically stated that one would definitely be under pressure occupying the position as the EC boss no matter the gender of the person.

“. . no matter ones gender he/she would be under a lot of pressure because the work entails a lot of time, both physical and spiritual ability, as a lot of tiny things would also worry you,” she said.

She asserted that the EC is totally prepared for the up-coming polls.

Charlotte Osei speaking at an event to launch the commission’s five-year strategic plan and also to unveil the new direction and outlook of the commission indicated that “people have to understand that all electoral commissions across the word have electoral vendors even if they use a biometric register or verification kits, because we were still using vendors when we were using the manual system.”

However, she said the Super-lock Technologies Limited (STL) is the selected vendor which provides some key functions for the commission, such as the biometric verification registration kits, biometric devices and wide area network data base.

According to her the EC’s association with STL is regulated by contract and their roles and responsibilities are not done by themselves but by a directive from the commission according to the contract signed with them.

According to her, tasks executed by STL on behalf of the EC cannot be managed by staff of the commission, since it would be a strategic management decision for the EC to manage its own service provider.
