EC Undertakes Pilot Registration Exercise In Eastern Region

A pilot registration exercise organized by the Electoral Commission to test the efficiency of the biometric voter registration machine has ended.

The pilot voter registration exercise in the region was carried out in two communities, at Sokode Juaso Registration Center in the Abuakwa North Constituency and Effiduase Community Center Registration Center in the New Juaben North Constituency.

At the close of the registration, at the Effiduase Community Center Registration Center, 49 people had registered.

Ms Agnes Osei Bonsu of the Electoral Commission said the exercise was to test the speed and efficiency of the biometric registration machines and throughout the registration exercise, the machine worked well.

Mr Ernest Oti Akenteng, an agent of the New Patriotic Party at the Center, expressed his satisfaction  at the performance of the biometric registration machine and the whole exercise.

Mr Edem Bloavo, an agent of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) said, the registration machine rejected the use of the National Health Insurance Card but accepted other National Identity Cards adding that he was satisfied with the performance of the registration machines.
