Police Preliminary Report On Slain MP Out...

As Ghanaians especially the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the family of the late Hon. Joseph Boakye Danquah-Adu await anxiously for reasons surronding the killing of the lawmaker at his residence on Tuesday dawn, Head of Public Affairs Directorate of the Ghana Police Service, Superintendent Cephas Arthur has released an interim report.

According to Supol Cephas Arthur, the preliminary report from the police as far as the killing of the NPP MP is concerned shows that the victim sustained stabbed wounds in the stomach and the ribs but not certain on the kind of object used to stab him to death; and are thus awaiting for the pathology report.

Giving the introductory report from police investigations into the murder of the Abuakwa North MP, Supol Cephas Arthur said on Okay Fm’s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show insisted the police cannot state for a fact if the killer used a broken bottle, knife, sharp bamboo and or a piercing metal from a gun until the investigation is concluded.

He stressed that the police will come out with information which is scientific after the forensic team is done with investigation on the evidence gathered at the crime scene; adding that he is not ready to speculate on the object used to stab the MP as the information will not be relevant until the forensic report is out.

With the preliminary investigation as far as the killing of the MP is concerned, we can say that he sustained stabbed wounds but as to whether it was a broken bottle, knife, sharp bamboo or sharp metal from a gun, we can’t say it for now until we get a report from the pathologist so that we can provide scientific information to the public…the information will be relevant until the forensic report comes...but for now, all we can say is that he sustained stabbed wounds in the stomach and in the ribs”.

I can say we have up to standard materials in conducting crime-scene investigation,” he added.
