Prostitutes Have Better Bargaining Power Than NDC - Nana Addo's Aide

Senior aide to New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer,  Nana Akufo Addo , Sheikh Mustapha Hamid, says prostitutes in Ghana have a better bargaining power than the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government.

Sorry to use this example but even the prostitutes insist the men who patronize them use condom because of HIV/AIDS. Why are they not also saying that the men are paying money so they should have sexual intercourse without condom? Even the prostitute who goes to offer her body is careful not die because of prostitution, so how can a whole nation with conscience therefore say that someone gives us money so even if they will kill us, we don’t care”, the Lecturer at the Cape University told Atinka AM Drive on  Monday.

Sheikh Hamid was speaking on the transfer of Guantanamo Bay ex- convicts to Ghana.

According to him, government showed little or no respect to Ghanaians by agreeing to house the ex-convicts, adding, “it’s a serious violation of the social contracts we signed with them by voting for them”.

They don’t respect Ghanaians and they do what they want. Under  this  representative democracy, the people are being represented by 275 MPs and as such if you are deciding on anything like this, you should consult MPs”.

According to him, the USA consulted members of  its  Congress and they voted against housing the ex-convicts in America but Ghana accepted the transfer of the prisoners without consulting members of  Parliament.

Sheikh Hamid said he would be shocked if there was no money involved in the deal. “There is the social exchange theory which says that no human being does something without expecting something in return. The argument by government that the US is providing their (ex- convicts) needs is a diversion of the issue…it does not take away the fact that they are dangerous,” he said.

According to him, "America has confirmed that 116 former detainees have gone back to terrorism so it is dangerous to house some of these ex- convicts particularly when Nigeria is battling with Boko Haram”.

According to Sheikh Hamid, the ex- convicts should have been sent to rehabilitation centers for Islamic scholars to re-orient them “because what the US is doing is spreading terrorism around the world by sending these people around”.
