Graduate Teachers To Apply For Job After Training Is Just A Proposal - Alex Kyeremeh

Deputy Minister of Education, Alex Kyeremeh says it is just a proposal that has been sent to the Ministry demanding graduate teachers to apply for jobs after their training course, but it has not been implemented.

According to him, there is a strategic plan that the Ministry of Education works within, so is not like the sector sits on their own to amend laws for teachers.

“It goes through a long process for the Ministry to make a final decision on a particular proposal, committees are also set up to do a proper review of the issue at hand,” he said.

The ministry again sits to review what the committee set have done before implimentation takes place.

"... Ghana Education Service strategic plan is a formulated policy from 2008, with slight changes made recently under which it operates, which is centered on three key things. Quality and equity are the number one key components we look out for in the proposals directed to us before we even think of reviewing it," he added.

"Teachers as we always say are our friends, brothers and sisters and our everything, so if they have some grievances in mind with respect to their profession, they should come to us directly through a delegation to redress the issues as early as possible so that it does not sound as if we are enemies to teachers to improve the educational system in the country," Alex Kyeremeh said.
