Revealed! Portuphy �Errand Boy� Campaigned Against Mahama �And Gomoa Central Constituents Too

Disqualified parliamentary candidate in Techiman North constituency, Prince Opoku Mensah a.k.a Kofi Portuphy, last Saturday campaign vehemently against President John Dramani Mahama by entering house to house telling people to vote NO against the president.

Mr. Opoku Mensah, who was disqualified by the national vetting committee of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) from contesting honorable Alex Kyeremeh, the member of parliament and deputy minister of education, owing to his membership in the party as the party constitution required, went out telling people to vote NO against the president as means of showing his displeasure against the party decision him.

He was confronted by the former organizer of Techiman South, Alhaji Mumuni Saaka, who is a relative of the president, but Mr. Mensah turned deaf ears to his confrontation.

The Brong Ahafo regional organizer of the party, Mr. Mohammed Seidu a.k.a MAHA, heard the news and rushed to the area to call him to order, but again Mr. opoku Mensah did not heed to the words of his regional organizer.

It was believed that Mr. Mensah’s aim of campaigning against the number one gentleman of the land was that, when people vote NO against the president it will show that the electorate at Techiman North are not comfortable with the member of parliament, and if he had had the opportunity to contest him, he could have won the election as parliamentary candidate for area.

Mensah was disqualified when it was discovered that he was not up to for years in the party and that he joined the political rouping through the ‘back door.’

He debunked the claims, saying he is a true card-bearing member of the NDC and that he joined the party in 2007.

The other aspirant Albert Appiah Boateng, was also disqualified for being under investigations by the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) for alleged forgery of his degree.

At the end of the polls at Techiman North 3,433 voted YES for and 235 voted NO against the president, respectively.

In a related issue, a former deputy minister at the Ministry of Gender and Social Protection, Rachel Appoh, has revealed that she had to pay her constituents to reduce the NO votes against President Mahama during NDC’s primaries held over the weekend.
