EC Boss Should Not Create Problems For This Country - Karbo

NPP Member of Parliament aspirant for Lawra constituency, Anthony Abayifa Karbo, has admonished the Electoral Commissioner Charlotte Osei not to do the bidding of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Making his submissions on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", Anthony Karbo stressed that the EC Chairperson should not compromise her position because she plays an instrumental role in maintaining the peace of Ghana.

To him, any action taken by the EC Chairperson can either create problems or enhance national cohesion.

“She’s in the middle...And her actions and her inactions [Kwami] can create problems for the country going forward. And she will be the first woman Electoral Commissioner of this country to have plunged into some chaos if care is not taken.

“That is what the political parties don’t want. We in the NPP don’t want that because our party members, our young people, our youth are very disciplined and they respect the law. They will work according to the law.”

Reiterating his party's request for the compilation of a new voters' register by the Electoral Commission, Anthony Karbo further warned government Communicators not to count their luck on the appointment of Mrs. Charlotte Osei.

According to him, it will be a very terrible mistake on the part of government for the Communicators to think that Mrs. Charlotte Osei should use her position to favour them.

“Nobody is putting any pressure on the Electoral Commission. The Electoral Commission of Ghana is an independent institution. It’s a public service institution. It works for the public. It doesn’t work for one political party or the other. So, those NDC Communicators who have made up their minds that the fact that Madam Charlotte was appointed by the President means that she is going to be partial or she’s going to be siding with the NDC; it’s a terrible mistake. And they must be advised appropriately.”
