Police Brutality On Demonstrators: It's Sad For Ghana's Democracy - Abu Jinapor

Former aide to Nana Akufo Addo, Abu Jinapor has condemned the brutal attacks by the Police personnel on LMVC demonstrators who took to the streets weeks ago to petition the Electoral Commission over their request for a new voters' register.

Abu Jinapor held strongly that the Police's treatment of the demonstrators was unfair.

According to him, the issue should be discussed without any partisan sentiments because it could happen to any political party in the nation.

In his view, the Police resorting to the use of what they term as "graduated force" on the demonstrators should have been avoided.

This is because, to him, Ghana has developed from the dark ages and democracy in the nation has developed.

Addressing the issue on Kokrokoo on Peace FM, John Jinapor stressed that the Police brutality is "sad for our democracy. It’s sad for our law. It’s sad for our country. It’s sad for all of that. It should not happen. There’s no reason why it should happen…History shows that regimes who fear their own people will eventually crumble.”
