Ex-Soldier Promises To Uproot Absentee MP

A former District Chief Executive for the Effutu-Awutu-Senya District, Lt Daniel William Osardu, who is also a former vice chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Awutu-Senya West constituency, has promised to oust the incumbent MP for the area, Hannah Tetteh, in the forthcoming parliamentary primary of the party. I am commonly known as Mr Technical because of my organisational ability from my military background and I promise to do an effective campaign to beat Hannah Tetteh on November 7 because she has neglected the grassroots of the party in Awutu-Senya and has also been an absentee MP, Lt Osardu said after picking his nomination forms to contest the Awutu-Senya West parliamentary primary at the partys office at Awutu Bereku. He was accompanied to the party office by enthusiastic party supporters who were all calling for a change of candidate. Lt Osardu said the expansion of the electoral college is a welcome development because it will surely reduce vote-buying during the primary. According to him, during the last primary of the party in 2011, sewing machines and hair dryers were distributed to about 900 delegates to influence them. I hope the constituency executive members are going to be neutral and provide a level playing field this time round, he added, warning that any attempt to bend the rules in favour of the incumbent would be fiercely resisted. Before I came to pick my forms, some of our people were saying that I dont have money to even pick the forms and now I have paid about GH2,000 to pick my forms for the primary, he told the teeming supporters. He added that he was the man to represent the grassroots as well as the youth in the constituency, adding, I am prepared to provide effective leadership for the party in the constituency come 2016 as I did during my days as the DCE for the area. The NDC in the Central Region has been charged to collect an additional GH900 from all aspirants for administrative purposes as well as to pay for the biometric registration of the delegates. One other aspirant, Papa Agyarko-Owiredu, has also picked his nomination forms to contest in the Awutu-Senya West primary of the party.
