NPP Plots To Tag EC Boss NDC

Having come to terms with reality that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo would most likely taste a third consecutive defeat in the upcoming 2016 elections, strategists and hardliners of the opposition New patriotic Party have upped their ante; to find an alibi to explain the likely excruciating defeat that awaits them.

Reliable information reaching TheaL-hAJJ indicates that the opposition NPP have finalized a strategy aimed at smudging the newly appointed Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Mrs. Charlotte Kesson-Smith Osei with charges of doing the bidding of the NDC, and will eventually, blame Nana Akufo Addo’sthird defeat or whoever the party presentson her.

Their strategy, just as Nana Akufo Addo and his lapdogs accused immediate past EC Boss, Dr Kwadwo AfariGyan, (who supervised elections that saw change in two different regimes) ahead of the 2012 elections and subsequent at the novel election petition, the opposition NPP have started another journey to disrepute Mrs Osei and paint her as being in bed with the ruling National Democratic Congress.

Despite the description of Mrs.Osei as member of the NDC by NPP’s foremost spin doctor, Gabby Asare Otchere Darko, many Ghanaians thought Nana Akufo-Addo and his men had turned a new leaf when they dismissed Gabby’s undeserving attacks and went ahead to issue statements congratulating the new EC Boss. They also extolled the new EC Boss’ virtues, independence and objectivity.

However, the NPP’s favorable verdict on the affable EC boss is about to change, upon a careful scrutiny of her maiden statement to the media, that, she will not kowtow to the dictates and/or, whims and caprices of anyone.

This was after the NPP presented a petition to her office to justify the need for the compilation of a new voter register.

The NPP was hoping to coerce the EC to admit its position for a voter register, which has also been the article of faith of its flag bearer for some time now.

This, they believed will also boost their tattered party image under Nana Akufo-Addo’s watch. An image party insiders say has made the NPP unattractive to ordinary voters.

It this vein, the NPP, through some of its well-known loose talkers, has started making spurious allegations and impracticable statements to either pressurize Mr Osei and the EC to yield to their dictates, failure of which she will be tagged anti-NPP.

Some of the party king pings fronting this vicious agenda includes its serial vice presidential aspirant, Dr Mahamadu Bawumia; former Finance Minister, Yaw Osafo Marfo; Ashanti regional chairman, Bernard Antwi Bosiako; Assin Central MP, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong; former Youth Organizer, Anthony Abayifa Karbo; National Organizer, John Boadu; Communications Director, Nana Akomea, among others.

Whiles Bernard Antwi Bosiako, aka Chairman Wontumi, is accusing the EC for causing financial loss to the state; Kennedy Agyapong claims the ruling party paid GHC 500, 000 to foreigners to bloat the voters’ register with the connivance of EC officials.

The Assin Central MP, at his usual best, stated that “Some females were also contracted with recruiting persons from Ivory Coast…the NDC promised to give each voter 2000 Cfa and they have actually given them 1000 CFA for registering with the promise of given them a further 1000 when they come to vote…,”

In Togo, Ken Agyapong continued that he has video and pictorial evidence showing persons recruited by the NDC registering foreign voters. The registration officers, he said, are NDC members who were given the machines by the EC.

To consolidate their unjust smear campaign, Former Youth Organizer of the NPP, Anthony Karbo has also alleged that 1000, 000 foreigners are on Ghana’s electoral register. John Boadu and Yaw Osafo Marfo have also forcefully stated that the present voters’ register is not credible; hence the NPP will resort to all means, including demonstrations against the EC, to prevent the current register from being used for the 2016 elections.

The supposed findings by Dr Bawumia that about 76,000 Togolese nationals are on Ghana’s electoral register is part of the NPP agenda to discredit the EC under Mrs. Osei and to set the stage for the party to find explanations for the defeat that awaits them in 2016, The aL-hAJJ has uncovered.
