Elections: Dan Botwe Sacked

The Member of Parliament for Okere Constituency, Hon. Dan Botwe who is also a leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and was, acting as a polling agent for his party in the ongoing election in Akwatia was this morning removed by security personnel from the polling station where he was acting as a polling agent. Confirming the incident, Hon. Daniel Botwe said he is a legal polling agent endorsed by the Electoral Commission (EC), but the opposition parties probably think he is aggressive and would not allow cheating, so they connived with the security personnel to remove him from the station. According to our reporter, Obeng Manu, the MP was a polling agent in Lorry Station A, which is one of the six polling centres where the election is being run. He went on to say that, other polling agents there also protested against his presence, so the security personnel removed him from the polling station. The MP described the situation as unfortunate, and called on those in charge to see to it that the proper thing is done. He also urged his party supporters to be calm and assured them that at the end of the exercise, victory would surely be theirs.
