PNC Postpones National Delegates

The People�s National Convention (PNC) has postponed its National Delegates Congress which was slated from August 14 -16 to October 9-11, to elect national officers and the flag bearer for Election 2016. The postponement was necessitated by the failure of the party to organise all constituency and regional conferences to elect officers, which were mandatory for a national congress. Directive A party source told the Ghana News Agency in an interview last Tuesday that the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party had directed all regional executives to complete constituency congresses by mid-August, and regional congresses by mid-September, to the pave way for the National Delegates Congress. The PNC source explained that the party�s NEC was monitoring current developments and map up strategies, to fasttrack the process to pave the way for the National Delegates Congress. The congress is expected to review the party's Constitution and strengthen it to deal with the exigencies of current political trends. Flag bearer positions GNA investigation indicates that so far, Mr Hassan Abdulai Ayariga, the Election 2012 Presidential Candidate of the party, and Dr Bismark B. Ntim, the Election 2004 Vice-Presidential Candidate of the party, are campaigning for the flag bearer position. The 17 national positions being contested are national chairman, three vice chairmen, general secretary, two deputy general secretaries, national organiser and his two deputies, national women organiser and her two deputies, national youth organiser and his two deputies, national treasurer and his two deputies, and communications secretary.
