Every NDC Member Is A Foot Soldier Tawiah Boateng

The Eastern Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Bismark Tawiah Boateng, has said every member of the party is a foot soldier, including the President.

He has, therefore, asked the rank and file to exercise restraint else “if we do not take care, people will infiltrate our ranks".

Mr Boateng, who was speaking to the Daily Graphic, denied the assertion that the footsoldiers of the party had been denied any support and said "it is only in monetary terms but not in other forms".

He, therefore, urged Metropolitan,  Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCE) to interact with the party at the grass-roots level.

He said this would go a long way to help prevent conflict within the party and enable the supporters of the party to understand government policies and programmes.

“The NDC belongs to all of us, whether an executive member or not. Therefore, we must involve our people in every step we take so that they appreciate what the government is doing. We need not alienate our footsoldiers since they form an integral part of our party,"he said.

He said the party, as part of its "agenda 50 -50", would convene a meeting with all MMDCE'S, party chairpersons, and all past executives and Members of Parliament on how best to maximise votes in the Eastern Region.

“This meeting will also involve all cadres, past and present ministers, ambassadors and MMDCEs from 1981 since they are needed to build the party in the region. We need everybody on board," he said.

Mr Boateng appealed to all former position holders in the party to forget the past and help build the party.

He described the current economic situation as temporary and expressed the hope that things would soon normalise since President John Mahama was doing his best to develop the country.

He was of the view that the NDC government was better than the opposition New Patriotic Party since it had performed creditably in all sectors of the country's development process.
