NDC MP: I Didn't Say The Poor Are Exaggerating The Effect of "Dumsor"; But I Apologise

Ebenezer Terlarbi, NDC MP for Lower Manya Krobo has denied saying that it is only the poor who are exaggerating the effect of the ongoing power crisis in the country.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii FM programme, Terlarbi allegedly said the issue of the power crisis popularly known as ‘dumsor’ is being “exaggerated by people who cannot afford to buy fridges or air conditions in their homes.”

But speaking in an interview on Wednesday’s edition of Peace Fm's ‘Kokrokoo’ , Terlarbi denied making those comments.

He has however apologized if indeed “I said something like that”.

…I never said it is the poor who complain about dumsor. I spoke in Twi (a local dialect) and said the issue of Dumsor is being exaggerated. However in the course of my speech, if I said something like that; if that is the understanding, then I am sorry. It was in a discussion and I spoke Twi. If whatever I said sounded like that then I am sorry…” he said.
