Islamic University TEIN Marks 10th Anniversary

The Islamic University branch of the ruling National Democratic Congress’ Tertiary Educational Institutions Network (TEIN) has marked its 10th anniversary with a call on the youth to get involve in nation building.

The colorful ceremony, which was attended by several stalwarts of the NDC and government officials, was aimed at painting a true picture of the state of the nation’s economy.

Speaking on the theme “the state of the economy, its challenges, causes and the way out’’, speakers lined up for the program, all NDC heavyweights, touted achievements of the Mahama-led government in all sectors.

Telling the government’s success story to a highly packed auditorium, a Minister of State at the Presidency, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, noted that the Mahama government has performed creditably in all sectors of the economy.

According to him the youth forms a critical aspect of the President’s transformational agenda “because they are the leaders of tomorrow,” adding that “The Youth Entrepreneur Support fund is an initiative to support the youth with bright entrepreneurial skills.”

Reiterating government’s commitment to support the youth, the former Youth and Sports Minister, charged the youth to come up with achievable job proposals to help curb the unemployment rate, assuring that government is willing to support them.

Touching on the health sector, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah stated that the ongoing 1000 bed University of Ghana teaching hospital is intended to help reduce the hassle students go through to seekmedical attention at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.

He urged the students to rally round President Mahama and put their shoulders to the wheel to ensure massive win for the NDC in the 2016 elections, adding that the youth stand to gain a lot with John Mahama as president.

On his part, Member of Parliament for Adentan, Nii Ashie Moore noted that Adentan, where Islamic University is located, has witnessed tremendous developments under the NDC government.
He promised to work together with the youth to bring more projects to the constituency if he is retained in the 2016 elections.
