Journalist Dies After Collapsing At A Press Confab

An Accra-based journalist has been confirmed dead after collapsing at an event Tuesday.

Ben Asiamah was rushed to the Ridge Hospital after he buckled while covering a press conference which was being organised by two think tanks, IMANI and the Institute for Fiscal Studies at the Alisa hotel in Accra.

He is suspected to have died of Cardiac arrest.

It is unclear which media House he worked with.

Another journalist, Richard Abbey, who witnessed the sad event said the deceased, before the incident, complained of sharp pains in his chest area .

“He complained of some pains in his chest and ribs and suddenly he collapsed.

“An ambulance was rushed in but before he left the Alisa hotel, everyone could tell he was motionless”.

Adomonline.com checks indicate the sad incident occured at the blind side of the organisers.

The late Asiamah always wore jeans with long sleeves. Journalists in Accra know him to be someone who was always present at events.

His media house however remained a mystery as he and two others on different occassions changed media house representation.
