CPP Set To Picket Outside Erstwhile Ministry Of Information Building Today

The Convention People’s Party (CPP) is set to picket outside the erstwhile ministry of information building today to compel government to return its assets, which were confiscated during the 1966 coup.

The party had threatened to go to court, seeking an order to repossess many of its assets confiscated by the State.

The CPP government led by Dr Kwame Nkrumah was overthrown in 1966 via a coup d’etat.

The lawsuit by the CPP was to target a number of properties in Accra, including the former Ministry of Information and Media Relations building. The Deputy Director of communications of the party, Asani Tano said they have resorted to this action because all other means to retrieve these properties have yielded no results.

He explained that what is most important to them is their former national headquarters that is the erstwhile Information Ministry building.
