Mills Men Endorsed! As Race For NDC Positions Intensifies

A YOUTH activist of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Abednego Orstin Rawlings, has argued that for the NDC to win the 2016 general election, it needs the wits of its current chairman, Dr Kwabena Adjei. According to him, Joyce Mahama, Koku Anyidoho, Allotey Jacobs and Kofi Adams among others are equally competent to join forces with Dr Adjei to face two-time presidential candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo in the 2016 general election. He said, most of the named candidates are former President John Atta Mills men and when voted for, will bring the ideologies of both late President Mills and former President Rawlings to the party for victory in the 2016 polls. Mr. Rawlings also urged the rank-and-file of the NDC to convince former first lady and wife of President Jerry John Rawlings, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings to contest for the position of national vice chair once again to complement the team. The party officials must do this for her not to revive the party ahead of the 2016 general election. If the decision is not considered now, her party could do the home work very well to qualify to contest the presidential race come 2016, and her party will surely get votes not less than 300,000 votes President John Dramani Mahama got to win the 2012 presidential election, Mr. Rawlings pointed out. He said the national chairman of the party, Dr. Adjei should be given the nod just as General Secretary; Johnson Asiedu Nketsiah is going unopposed. Why not his boss, Dr. Adjei to go unopposed? he asked. Mr. Rawlings, who declared his support for the above mentioned names during an interaction with the media in Accra yesterday, is urging all the delegates of the party to appraise the work of those mentioned and vote for them to continue the good works they have done for the party. He commended the former Central Regional Propaganda Secretary of the NDC, Allotey Jacobs and urged the delegates to vote for him to become the central regional chairman of the party. Mr. Rawlings claimed that members of the opposition New Patriotic Party are afraid of the above mentioned names and further appealed to delegates to give them the mandate. He has, therefore, urged party members to exhibit a more tolerant conduct towards one another and to deal with themselves in a more civilized manner. Mr. Rawlings further stated that when we were united in 2008 we were able to conquer the elephant, so when we continue to unite, we can still tie up the lion. We as a party in government should put the interest of the NDC first before any other thing-it is better to have your party stay in government than being the presidential candidate of the opposition party.
