The Affable national chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Kwabena Adjei has jumped to the rescue of the Deputy Eastern regional minister, Mavis Ama Frimpong, over her "kukurudu" chanting at an NDC meeting in Koforidua and has called on furious party supporters to forgive her since it was not deliberate.

The minister, on Monday shocked the Eastern Regional executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) when she chanted the slogan of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), during a meeting with the national chairman of the party, Dr. Kwabena Adjei at the Residency.

The deputy minister, chanted "kukurudu kukurudu kukurudu" to prepare the grounds
for her welcome address. The deputy minister realized the blunder when her attention was drawn to it, compelling her to apologize.

Some of the executives wondered why the deputy minister could commit such an unpardonable mistake. The meeting with the regional executives formed part of Dr Adjeis campaign tour of the region which started on Monday. Dr. Adjei and his campaign team also held a meeting with other party executives from some five constituencies.

Speaking on Eastern FM, a Koforidua based local station, on Tuesday, an Aid to Dr. Adjei, Mustapha Bgandi, having observed bashing of the deputy minister on the airwaves by furious supporters of the NDC in the region, confirmed the story and rendered an unqualified apology on behalf of the deputy minister.

Mr Bgandi appealed to the supporters to forgive the deputy minister since her comment was a mere verbal error which was not deliberately said.

According to him, Dr. Adjei is worried that some individuals in the party cannot keep confidential issues of the party and sometimes record close door meetings and leak to opponents, as well as the media, a development he believes creates unnecessary fear when having private conversations with party members.

He called on party members to refrain from such acts that disintegrate rather than bind the party together.

Dr Adjei is optimistic that the delegates will renew his mandate as the national chairman to enable him keep the party in power in its quest of making Ghana a better place for all Ghanaians.
