Another Occupyflagstaffhouse Demo Set For Monday

The Concerned Ghanaians For Responsible Governance (CGRG) organizers of Occupy Flag Staff House demonstration has announced it will organize another demonstration on Monday to protest the worsening economic conditions in the country. The group staged a similar protest on July 1, 2014, to demand better economic management from government. The demonstration took place at the Efua Sutherland Childrens Park in Accra after the Police denied them permission to picket at the Flagstaff House. They later massed up at the TV3 premises near the Flagstaff House in a bid to get access to the seat of government. The Deputy Chief of Staff, Valery Sawyer subsequently received the petition on behalf of the President and promised that their concerns will be addressed. Government spokespersons however criticized organizers of the demonstration for highlighting a litany of problems in their petition instead of recommending solutions. Later in the month of July, the group came out with a campaign dubbed The Red Friday which was aimed at forcing government to address concerns raised in the Occupy Flagstaff House petition. As part of that campaign, Ghanaians were admonished to wear red attires or add a touch of red to their Friday apparels to silently demand good governance from the government every Friday but not much has been heard from the group in recent months. However, a press release signed by the Executive Secretary of CGRG, George Kojo Anti, announced that members of CGRG will stage another demonstration on Monday, September 22, 2014.
