Party Agent Grabbed �For Chewing Ballot Papers Of Opponent

An election hooligan has been arrested by the Akwatia Police Command for snatching and chewing some ballot papers of an opposition candidate who was leading in the constituency organizer election held on Saturday. The suspect, one Samuel has since been granted bail by the Akwatia Police. The incident occurred on Saturday during the constituency election organized by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to elect its constituency executives. The suspect who was acting as a party agent for one of the candidates during the counting suddenly snatched and chewed some ballot papers of an opponent, Samuel Agbeko who was in the lead when the counting was underway. The suspect after realizing that his candidate had been defeated when sorting was done also snatched some of the ballot papers of the opponent, started tearing them apart and attempted to run away but was apprehended by the heavy security personnel at the venue. The incident created chaotic scene which nearly marred the counting process, especially, when the Member of Parliament (MP) in consultation with the acting Eastern Regional Chairman of the NDC, Alhaji Sumaila decided that counting for the affected position be postponed. The decision infuriated the supporters of Mr Abgeko who threatened to hold the MP and other executives hostage if the result was not declared. The action of the charging supporters of Agbeko informed the party executives to declare Abeko winner of the constituency organizer position without any further ballot counting to pave the way for peace to prevail. Moro Awale popularly known as BB was elected as chairman, Henry Boakye Okoro won the vice Chairmanship position. Secretary elect was Joseph Asiedu and Dept. Sec-Michael Kwashie. The other executives elected were, Samuel Agbeko as Organizer with Joseph Lodo as his deputy, the position of treasurer went to Noble Gblokpor, while Tanko Tamimu was elected as Deputy Treasurer. Propaganda Sec went to Prince Sulleyman, Dept. Propaganda Sec-Etse Katako, Youth Organizer-Erasmus K. Ali, Deputy Youth organizer-Yusif Fuseine Danjuma, Women org-Christiana Bediako and Deputy Women Organizer.-Abena Boat. Other members were Yaro, Ayaw, Matan Baba, Achaana, Bashiru, Beatrice, Abba and Gado. The acting eastern regional chairman of the NDC, Alhaji Sumaila Mahama urged the newly elected executives to forge unity in the party and work hard for the party to retain the seat.
