Freed Eric Amoateng Returns To Ghana

A former Ghanaian legislator, Eric Amoateng, who served a 10-year jail term in the United States, is expected to return home today, Thursday, August 7. Information reaching StarrFMOnline.com indicates that the ex-legislator who represented the Nkoranza North constituency on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is arriving in a Delta Airline flight at exactly 1.30 pm. According to officials at the Kotoka International Airport � Ghana�s only international airport � Amoateng, who was arrested in the United States on December 11, 2005 for illegal possession of 136 pounds of heroin with a street value of about six million dollars, is expected to be �interrogated� by Narcotics Control Board (NACOB) officials to keep track of his movement whiles in Ghana. The state-owned Ghanaian Times earlier reported that a NACOB source had indicated that the procedure of filling the form was not peculiar to Amoateng alone, adding that it was a general guideline that every deportee on drug offences was supposed to follow. The former MP served 10 years in US jail.
