A former Commissioner of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), Justice Emile Short has urged government to urgently implement the National Anti-Corruption Action Plan. Justice Short explained that the implementation of the plan would save the government a lot of finance as the country loses as a result of corruption. Parliament in a bid to curb corruption on Thursday approved an action, known as National Anti-corruption Action Plan, aimed at mobilizing efforts and resources and involving stakeholders to fight corruption. The plan also aimed at ensuring efficiency, accountability and transparency in the public and private sectors by investigating and prosecuting corrupt officials. �This is the first step and the greatest challenge is the implementation of the plan. I think that we need to be hopeful and optimistic that government would implement it�, the former CHRAJ boss noted. Mr. Short said merely having a plan without implementing would be of no use, stressing that government would save more money if it began immediate steps to implement the plan. He, therefore, stated that �we [Ghanaians] have to be hopeful and put pressure on the government to implement the plan�.
