Communications Consultant to the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Eric Ametor Quamyne has called on the Ghana Police Service to launch investigations into the alleged shooting incident that occurred on Thursday night, prior to the National Delegates Conference of the New Patriotic Party. Mr. Ametor Quarmyne said, as a matter of urgency, the Police should arrest the suspect (s) to deter other people from replicating their action. According to him, the Police should demonstrate their commitment and readiness to safeguard the indigenes of the vicinity where the shooting took place. Fear gripped residents of Tamale as well as visitors who were preparing for the NPP�s National Delegates Conference after unknown gunmen shot and injured Nine NPP activists Thursday night. The activists were said to be having fun in the form of a "night jam" around Tamale West Hospital area when unidentified gunmen in an unregistered taxi cab opened fired on them, injuring eight men and one woman in the process. The gunmen quickly sped off as soon as they opened fire on the victims. Efforts to track down the criminals had been futile so far. The nine are currently receiving medical attention after sustaining series of injuries in the shooting incident. Contributing to a panel discussion programme on U TV�s �Adekye Nsroma�, Ametor Quarmyne expressed disgust over the incident saying the New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Delegates Conference at Tamale was peaceful until it recorded that unfortunate spectacle. To him, the Police should not relent in ensuring that the culprits are found and further called on them to guarantee the safety of the people.
