The New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Saturday, 12th April, 2014, elected Mr. Kwabena Adjei Agyepong as its new General Secretary. He polled 2,520 votes to beat his closest contestant, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, popularly known as �Sir John�; then incumbent secretary. Mr. Agyepong, just four days before the delegate�s conference, was involved in an accident and was admitted at the 37 Military Hospital. Even though he was not seriously injured, many of his supporters thought he would not be able to attend the Conference. However, Mr. Agyepong was able to attend the conference and even went further to win his position. Speaking in an interview with Kwami Sefa Kayi, Kwabena Agyepong expressed appreciation to all the delegates and promised to rally with them for victory in 2016.
