An Ambulance which conveyed the wounded aspiring General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party to the 37 Military Hospital had to make a detour through the back door of the emergency unit of the hospital to avoid the teaming supports that had thronged the hospital. On orders of a military person at the scene, the ambulance was driven through the backdoor, where Mr. Agyepong was laid on a stretcher and carried to the consulting room. No photographs were allowed of the NPP front runner for the General Secretary position of the opposition party, who had suffered injuries on his left arm, after he was involved in an accident, together with four others. The accident occurred on the Accra-Nsawam road, when the car in which they were traveling skidded off the road, possibly due to the heavy rains, through which they were driving. Mr. Agyepong, who sustained arm injuries was rushed to the 37 military Hospital, where he is receiving treatment. A photographer, who was with his team is, however, said to be in a critical condition. The other passengers in the vehicle, according to sources close to the team, sustained minor injuries and are also receiving treatment. Mr. Agyepong and his campaign team were on their way to address a press conference in Kumasi, ahead of Friday's National Delegates conference, when the unfortunate incident happened. When The Chronicle got to the 37 Military Hospital, some NPP party stalwarts had thronged the hospital, seeking to know the condition of Mr. Agyepong and his team. Key among them was the incumbent General Secretary of the party, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, popularly known as Sir John, was had suspended his campaign in solidarity with Mr. Agyepong. A statement issued by Mr. Owusu Afriyie, moments after the accident, stated that �I wish him and all those involved in the accident a speedy recovery.� Other party members who were at the hospital included Nana Ohene Ntow, a former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, Mr. Kyeremanteng Agyarko, NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Ayawaso West and renowned Cardio Surgeon, Dr. Frimpong Boateng. Dr. Frimpong Boateng told The Chronicle that Mr. Agyepong was �well and stable.� An aide to Mr. Agyepong, Davis Opoku-Ansah, who was also involved in the accident, told The Chronicle in a telephone conversation that everything is under control and that �everyone is doing fine.�
