Allotey Jacobs Pooh-poohs Nana Addos Return..."An Old Goat Cannot Be Castrated

Central Regional Communications Director of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bernard Allotey Jacobs is calling on the 2012 presidential candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to retire from active politics. According to him, Nana Akufo-Addo is now a statesman and therefore any attempt to get him to lead the NPP in 2016 will be politically suicidal. It is said that one cannot teach an old dog a new trick and that is exactly how Bernard Allotey Jacobs interprets Nana Akufo-Addos claim of having learnt from his past. About a week ago, Nana Akufo-Addo, who contested for the Presidency on the ticket of opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2008 and 2012 general elections, made known his intention of running again in 2016. In the announcement which came on the back of a six month break from politics after the apex court of the land dismissed a petition he filled challenging the validity of the 2012 presidential elections results, Nana Addo stated that he had learnt from past mistakes and is therefore working to make amends. However, addressing the issue on NEAT FM, Allotey Jacobs was of the view that Nana Addo earned the respect of all, after he came out to accept the Supreme Courts ruling on the election petition and many thought he would have bowed out of politics on that high note but his return would make no difference because an old goat cannot be castrated. doing the right thing at the right time is as equal as doing the wrong thing and Nana Addo did the right thing and it helped in our political dispensation. And I thought that was a huge image for him that could have turned him into a statesman like Mr. J. A. Kufour and Mr. Rawlings. but then if he still believes in entering the gutter of politics, we will get in there with him, he added.
