The defeated incumbent chairman of the New Patriotic Party in the Western Region, Nana Owusu Ankomah, has pledged his total support to the party. Speaking after conceding defeat at the regional congress of the party held at the auditorium of the Takoradi Polytechnic, he said he will accept the verdict of the delegates and called on followers of the party to unite to ensure the party is returned to power in 2016. The newly elected regional chairman, Dickson Atta Nketsia , expressed gratitude to all the delegates for reposing confidence in him and promised to redeem all promises he made during his campaign. He called on all to help move the party forward in the region . The election that was supervised by the electoral commission in the western region led by the regional electoral commissioner, Stephen opoku mensah , had 462 registered voters with 451 voting. The chairmanship slot was contested by Joseph Payne who polled 41 , the defeated incumbent chairman , Nana Owusu Ankomah who polled 124 votes and the newly elected regional chairman , Dickson Atta Nketsia who polled 285 votes.
