Nana, Alan Rivalry Takes Centre Stage

Mr. Alan Kyerematen and Nana Addo rivalry in the NPP is surely going to determine who leads the party after tomorrows regional congress of the party in Sunyani. Almost all the thirty candidates who have been vetted and passed to contest the election belong to either Nana Addo or Alan Kyerematen camp. The 520 delegates, 16 each from the 29 constituencies in the region who are expected to attend the one day congress to be held at the Pastoral Center in Sunyani, are being compelled to vote for candidates who are in the camps of either Nana or Alan. Three people among the four contesting for the Regional Chairmanship position have been linked to either Nana Akufo-Addo or Allan Kyerematen. The only exception is Mr. Joseph Kwaku Agyei, a former executive member of the Ghana National Association of Teachers who is yet to be linked to any of the factions. Mr. Kwadwo Yeboah-Fordjour, who is staging a comeback for the position he once occupied is highly tagged as an Alan Kyerematen supporter, due to his close relationship with former President Kufour. The incumbent Regional Chairman, Kwaku Asomah-Cheremeh, is also known to be a staunch member of Nana Addos camp. Another candidate, Kwame Twumasi-Awuah, a private legal practitioner and former Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive has also been linked to Alan Camp. Mr. Kofi Darko, who is also seeking a comeback for the organizer position is a known member of the Nana Addos camp, but unfortunately for him, Mr. Bartholomew Inkoom and Ali Halidu Miaga, former parliamentary candidate for Dormaa West and a known staunch members of the Nana Addo Camp are in the contest for the organizer position. Mr. Aaron Obiri Korang a.k.a K.K , a popular Accra based serial caller from Chiraa is a member of the Alan Kyerematen camp, together with Mr. Kwasi Agyekum, a former organizer in the Berekum constituency are also in the contest for the organizer position. Another Alan Kyerematen staunch member, Madam Felicia Peprah Adoma also seeking to re-capture the position she once occupied as regional Women Organizer, would battle against two Nana Addo camp members, the incumbent Justina Owusu-Banahene and Ama Amponsah, a business person. The race for the 2nd vice chairman position have Mr. Kwame Aidoo, a perceived Alan member, would do battle with Ernest Kusi-Duah and Mensah Joseph, all Nana Addo faction members. Mr. Kofi Ofosu Boateng, the current Communications Director belongs to none of the factions, but Mr. Jephthiah Appau, a perceived Nana Addo man, is seeking to assist either Alfred Ofori Annye, a perceived Alan camp member or Yaw Dwomoh of Nana Addo camp to win the Secretary position. The incumbent Regional Youth Organiser, Nana Sekyere Boateng, a perceived Nana Addo camp member is also facing stiff opposition from three persons- Kwame Baffoe, aka Abronye DC, another member of the Nana camp, Michael Osei Boateng, who is yet to be linked and Gausu Baba Mohammed, an Alan camp member, for the youth job. Another supposed Alan person, Alhaji Issah Isaka, the Regional Treasurer, is also battling to retain his position, facing a stiff challenge from Kwaku Boadi-Kwakye, a Nana Addo faction member. Contestants for the Nasara Regional Coordinator positions are quite neutral, but Alhaji Adamu Mohammed has been linked to the Alan camp, whilst Alhaji Ibrahim Ahmed Abass has also been linked to Nana Addo, but most of the delegates think otherwise.
