Bad Ghanaian Business Practices Cause Of Cedi Depreciation Not Govt Mismanagement

While some leading members within the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) government have accused the Finance Minister for mismanaging the economy and subsequently calling for his dismissal, another outspoken member of NDC believes the woes of the economy are due to bad practice by Ghanaian business operators. Acting Propaganda Secretary of the ruling party, Solomon Nkansah is rather full of praise for the Finance Minister, saying he (Terkper) has brought financial discipline into various government sectors as some departments and agencies need to secure financial clearance from the Ministry before contracts can be legally binding. Solomon Nkansah averred on Okay Fm that the introduction of the financial discipline into the dealings of MDAs has caused the hatred as he (Terkper) has succeeded in blocking all the loopholes in the various sectors engaging in dubious business. Touching on the cedi depreciation and the rising inflation, the acting Propaganda Secretary noted that the paramount challenge is the bad business practices of some Ghanaian business operators who preference for trading in dollars has caused the cedi to depreciate. ..everything is going on well with the introduction of the financial discipline in the various sectors with the exception of the bad business practices of Ghanaianscedi depreciation and not the issue of mismanagement of the economy.every Ghanaian business person is trading in dollars and this is the cause of the depreciation of the cedi and which inflate the dollars. The use of the dollar in transactions by Ghanaians rather than the cedi is what has affected the economy, he asserted.
